The First Call for ACCORD R&D is now closed. The first call for components resulted in 21 offerings from 17 companies. The first call from Research organizations using the components offered resulted in 13 proposals.

An independent Panel of experts assessed the research proposals and the following proposals were selected for taking forward into the negotiation phase (in alphabetical order):

    * St Andrews University, Photoporation using fiber tips, Lovalite,
      Fibre face components
    * Tampere University of Technology, Short pulse laser Eolite Corus
      10G for micromachining of biodegradable implants and grooving of
      silicon wafer, EOLITE - IR to UV Industrial Laser
    * University of Latvia, Adaptive Optics for Eye Physiology Studies,
      Visosnica, Wavefront Sensors
    * Universita Politecnica de Madrid, Testing and system upgrading,
      FiberLogix, All-fibre stripper
    * Universidad Politecnic de Valencia, Characterisation of
      Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers and Electroabsorbers and their
      use in novel applicationsding, CIP, SOA / EA Modulators

The ACCORD Partners will now approach each of the five consortia to address issues that could lead to contracts being placed by September 2007.
